Applications. In other words, apps. Small programs for mobile phones that frequently use mobile internet. Every year, the number of smartphone and tablet users increases, which automatically leads to an increase in app usage. App usage is also expected to rise enormously again next year.
Suitable apps can be found for everyone, whether for the latest games or for business and social purposes. This is also divided into three groups: entertainment, productivity, and connectivity.
Six out of ten users who participated in the study by Leefritme Kenniscentrum (conducted among nearly 700 Dutch app users) indicate that the apps have made life easier. Apps are primarily used to combat boredom and wasting time.
The time you normally spend waiting, for example, can now be filled by using your apps.
If you don't have time during work, you can, for example, clean up your to-do list while waiting using the program “2Do” or keep track of your hours with “Hourtracker”.
If you prefer to spend some time on the social aspect, you can use a program like “Spotify” on Facebook to show everyone what music you are listening to at that moment. If you want to share a video with your friends or the rest of the world, purchase “MyVideo”.
20% of respondents feel that they have gained more friends thanks to the use of such social apps. The other side of the world comes a lot closer.
Two-thirds of the respondents believe that apps are primarily for entertainment. Most app users mainly download games. For instance, there are already more than 100 million users enjoying shooting birds in the game “Angry Birds”. The game “Fruit Ninja”, in which you have to chop as many pieces of fruit as possible, is also being downloaded an unprecedented number of times.
App development continues tirelessly, and usage will therefore only continue to increase.
