Google, who doesn't search with it? Almost everyone. Google is a gigantic and successful company, and it seems like nothing stands in their way. Yet, they have to ensure that their users remain satisfied. That is why there is now Google Instant Pages.
Google is the way to quickly find the information you are looking for. But fast search results aren't enough. A fast website is also very important. After all, a slow website causes a lot of irritation. Sometimes so much so that visitors decide to leave your website without having seen it. What a waste.
Google now has a solution for that: Instant Pages. When you enter a search query, Google automatically and immediately loads the first search result. When you then click on it, you don't have to wait for the website to load. All text and images are displayed instantly. You have a load time of 0,0 seconds.
In this video The effect of Instant Pages is clearly visible. It saves several seconds when loading the same page. Of course, it is only seconds, but I still see the benefit. When you are looking for something, you want to find it as quickly as possible. Even if it is not what you are looking for, you want to be able to see this quickly so you can continue your search.
However, there are also a few disadvantages. Instant Pages is only available in Google's own browser, Chrome. Additionally, only the first search result is loaded. If you subsequently leave that site and click on the next result, you really have to wait until that site has loaded.
Aside from that, I see a clear advantage in this development. I personally use google.nl as my homepage. I often type the company name here, instead of typing the full URL in the address bar. With the arrival of Instant Pages, I can now reach the desired website even faster, with no loading time!
What is your opinion on this development?
