Web design is the design of websites. The term is often used more broadly, where the technical development of websites is also considered part of it. However, these two components are usually not performed by the same person. Therefore, it is better to make a distinction between web design and web development. Web design thus focuses primarily on the front-end of websites, while web development focuses on the back-end, or the technical implementation of a website.

5. What is web hosting?

Web hosting means that your website is connected to the internet via a server. Your website is hosted on a server: a special computer that is switched on 24 hours a day and connected to the internet. If someone types your domain name into a browser, they are automatically directed to the server. This allows your website to be viewed online all over the world.

6. What is a sitemap?

A sitemap is a digital table of contents. It is a systematic organization of a website's pages. Compare it to the table of contents of a book. The goal is to give the user quick insight into the website's structure. Not every website has a sitemap. A sitemap is highly recommended, especially for larger and more complex websites. This is because it helps search engines find every page of your website. And the better the search engine can index your pages, the easier your information is found by potential visitors.

7. What is a URL?

The URL is essentially just the address of your website. URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It indicates where certain information, such as a file or image on your website, is located on the internet. This information can be accessed via the internet using a browser by typing the URL in the address bar or by clicking a link.

8. What is WYSIWYG?

WYSIWYG stands for What You See is What You GetIn a WYSIWYG editor, the information on the screen looks the same as how it is (later) printed or published on a website. 9. What is a domain extension?

An extension is the last part of a domain name: .nl, .com, .net, and so on. Fortunately, thanks to the invention of the Domain Name System (DNS) in 1983, we no longer have to type in the exact IP address when we want to visit a website, but only the domain name itself.

10. What is a moving code?

Suppose your domain name is currently hosted by another hosting provider, but you want to transfer it to us. This means you want to move your domain name to another hosting provider. For most extensions (.com, .net, .nl, etc.), you need a transfer code (token) to do this. Based on that transfer code, it is verified that you are the owner of the domain name and that the domain name transfer may be initiated.
