Windows Live Mail is getting new features. On October 3, 2011, Microsoft held a press conference regarding the new features of Hotmail. The 323 million users will experience various developments in the popular email service. These updates will be rolled out worldwide in the coming weeks. The features include unlimited storage space and a mailbox that works 10 times faster. The developers have also ensured that Windows Live Hotmail is now available for Android smartphones to reach an ever-growing group.

Hotmail is also working on tackling spam and, with it, the clarity of your mailbox. Naturally, they had been working on this for some time, but the spam rate has been reduced to between 0 and 3%. This is due to the introduction of the SmartScreen filter and the Trusted Sender principle.
For the rest, the average inbox mainly contains a lot of "graymail." These are, for example, newsletters or product offers sent because the user once signed up for one of these services. Social updates such as Facebook and Twitter messages also make up a large part of your mailbox.

That is why Hotmail has introduced 5 new features that will make your mailbox more organized.
1. Smart Newsletter filter
With this feature, it is possible to unsubscribe via Hotmail from providers from whom you no longer wish to receive mail. Hotmail ensures that you are removed from the mailing list. You could think of this, for example, of an online shoe store from which you once wanted to receive the latest offers.
2. Categorizing groceries
Incoming messages can now be automatically sorted into the desired folders. So you no longer have to drag and drop and spend time every day categorizing messages. This way, you keep your mail exactly where you want it, and it doesn't all get mixed up anymore.
3. Flag at the top
We were already familiar with marking emails with a red flag. With this “flag at the top” feature, Hotmail ensures that marked (and therefore important) emails always appear at the top of the desired list. This way, you will never forget a task again.
4. Automated cleaning
With this feature, you can manage your mailbox in a personal and targeted way. You can specify per sender (this only needs to be done once) what you want to do with the mail, such as keeping only the latest email or cleaning it up every 10 days. You can, of course, change this at any time.
5. Immediate actions
Here, you can decide what to do with it via email. You only need to hover your mouse over it to see the options. This allows you to directly delete, mark, etc. You can also personalize this by expanding it. You can do this by adding your most frequently used functions.
